How we met
Jason's version
Tess and I officially got it together at our good friends Helen and Jim’s engagement do
(however our paths had crossed several times previously in the 10 years since we met through our
mutual friend Amanda Holt).
After a bit of Dutch courage (ok a lot!!! and the nod of approval from Ben Holt who went to Uni
with Tess and married Amanda), I mustered the confidence to
talk to her and the rest shall we say is history…….
The Capra charm must have been working that night
Tess's version
Jay
and I had known each other for about 10 years as we have a
few mutual friends.
Jim and Helen had just got engaged and were holding a party
to celebrate on December 10 2006. I turned up that
night fresh back from visiting old friends Abbey and Jenny
in NYC. Unbeknownst to me Jay was also at the party.
What I thought was going to be a fun party turned into
something a lot more!
Feeling in the festive spirit Jay suggested to a few of us
that we carry on for another drink, but no one else joined
us as we walked down Lavender Hill to party the night away
together...
The proposal
I proposed to Tess in the grounds of a beautiful restaurant called La Colombe
in the Constantia Uitsig vineyard in Cape Town, South Africa.
So after a fantastic lunch and a couple of glasses of champers,
I suggested we went for a walk around the grounds of the
vineyard and that's when I asked Tess
to marry me. Tess looked back at me, gave a look of “what did you just say?” and
thankfully for me she replied “yes!”.
We were now engaged.
